Have I ever told everyone that my first computer was an Apple IIe. In the Philippines in 1987, we had the IBM 8086 at school which was very fortunate. Not a lot of schools had computers at the time. We were lucky to have 5 that was split between classes so everyone can use them. But one day a Missionary leaving the Philippines going back to the States and the family could not carry one more big luggage, the Apple IIe. They wanted us to have it because the family saw how fascinated I was with the computer when we visited their house for dinners, and get togethers.

I will never forget the 13 inch GREEN display with 8 lines per character and the system starting with “BASIC,” which stood for Basic All Purpose Instruction Code. I learned some programing at school was able to apply the BASIC code then. There was the 5 and 1/4th size Floppy drive that can use Single or Double Density space. One Floppy Disk can hold a massive 512 Kilobytes of information. You can mirror the cut on the other side of the disk and it will give you a double sided disk. Each side can really carry 256 Kilobytes of information.

My first games were the 1980 Summer Olympics, Captain Goodnight, Bolo, Paratroopers. It was amazing.

I moved over the the IBM PC world because the Macintosh computers were just too costly. My parents could not afford them and IBM PC clones were much cheaper then.

Today, I thank Kingdom Assignment for bringing me back to Apple. I do still love PCs because many company softwares are still needing them. I actually run Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro but the heart and soul is still the fruit – Apple.

I celebrate Steve Job’s life with this post because he was a visionary. I think that I am a visionary who can relate to him but he is magnified 1000x with his genius. But he means for all of us to take advantage of life and not settle for less. He encourages us to love what we do.

I am truly inspired with his Commencement Speech to the Stanford Univ. Class of 2005.

I just want to say “JOBS” Well Done.

Atty. Isauro Rosete, my wife’s grandpa and her greatest role-model, it was my honor and a privilege to have known you.

“Lolo” is what we call him. Lolo is a hard-working and honorable man who has worked is way from the bottom to provide for his family. He did not have a lot growing up but he studied hard, earned his law degree and worked for the Philippine Government.

He had a lot of good things to say when I met him and he has shared with me some things that will stick with me forever. One of those things is how I should enjoy life and family because they will be there with me no matter what.

Rest in peace and It was great knowing you.

Just won a Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

I started training Jiu-Jitsu in 2005. I started in the No-Gi grappling and had competed 5 times in 2006, once in 2007 and once in 2008. None of those turned out in a win. So I almost gave up, got married, had a daughter and barely trained. I started training in Traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Allan Goes in 2007 then got my Blue Belt in 2008 and has been working hard to get my Purple Belt. So, I decided to join this tournament at Copa Pacifica 14 in Westminster, CA.

Finally, I won my first match and had a chance to go to the finals and won the finals. WOW! What a great feeling. Better yet, ALL my teammates won their matches and a couple placed 2nd losing in their final matches and a couple others won the championships in their Belt and Weight category. What an adventure.
